Do The Good You Can

I want to share with all of you this quote that moved and touched me so much.

"If you can't do the good you would, do the good you can."

Matthew Henry wrote: "Wherever the Providence of God casts us, we should desire and endeavor to be useful; and when we cannot do the good we would, we must be ready to do the good we can. And he that is faithful in a little shall be entrusted with more."

We may all have big-time plans in our lives--major league dreams that haven't panned out.

You were going to write a best-selling book, but the opportunities just haven't come along. Are you willing to write for your church newsletter?
You are about to star in a most-awaited drama or movie, but because of inevitable circumstances, it just didn't happen. Are you willing to play the smallest role for a charity event?
Maybe you would want to play in a big event, but things didn't work out. Are you willing to play for your church's choir?
Maybe you would wanted to teach in a seminary or a Bible school, but the pressures of life forced you in a different direction. Are you willing to teach in a Sunday school class?

Well, we can't dictate the future but we can live the present. It is a challenge for all of us to do the good we CAN.

Ask yourself, am I willing to do the good I can if the good I would want to do will fail?
